But where exactly DOES time go? I mean, it was a minute ago that I updated the blog and put all the info about the HBOS farce but suddenly its actually one month and three days since then!
What on earth happened? I blinked and here we are!
Well actually I blinked and got my eyes tested for the first time in about 3 years. I have new specs! I have also started using contact lenses. I'd post pics but for some odd reason I can't seem to load them up. I'll have to sort that out at the weekend.
So here we are, its cooled down a lot and the nights are drawing in. No heating at home, so I've been staying at my mothers for warmth and sociability. Poor mum has suffered from a bad dose of flu - she will not have the jab - quite rightly she feels that we should fight these things off with our own body defenses. Except that she is closing in on 79 years old and fits in the "vulnerable" group.
Some other family shennanigans have gone on in the last month, but I am not allowed to speak of these as yet. Lets just say there has been some more upheaval at Mums and some chaos too.
Knitting has been happening, although not in great quantites. The Road where I work has been shut for the last two weeks (and has another week to go) for resurfacing so I've been coming in on Public Transport. It is as bad as I remember it to be, overcrowded, slow and generally not up to the standard it should be. On the plus side, I get on at the start of the line and don't have to change trains at all, so in the mornings I get a seat. This affords me some much valued knitting time!
I have knitted the Irish Hiking Scarf for my boss for Christmas. I've made it with Plymouth Indecita Alpaca - it is so soft in the palms of my hand but put it anywhere near the tops of my hands, my face or my neck and I itch like I've been invaded by an ant farm. I'm pleased with how the scarf has turned out and I really hope he likes it.
I've made socks! I made mum her socks, then using Regia mini ringel I made myself some socks in lovely blues. I snapped up some more regia very cheaply from Ebay and I know why it was so cheap. It is the most garish of colours but you know what? The socks they made really do brighten up the wintery days!
I have started another pair of socks in a garish green but they while away the tube journey nicely!
I have made the head and body of an Alan Dart gnome from Simply Knitting December 2005 - I am ambitious enough to think that I'll get 3 of these gnomes done in time to give to my other three colleagues with a mini bottle of booze each. I think I may have overstretched myself. The pattern needs full concentration!
This coming Wednesday is the Nordoff Robbins annual pop quiz. This is a charity quiz for the music industry and I'm going to be helping with the scoring. Should be a fun night - it was the last time I did this.
Next Monday, I am going with the lovely people from my MMOG guild to see Spamalot at the Palace Theatre. I've not seen them in forever and it will be really fun to catch up with them and to see the show.
So that is all for now. Pictures to follow as soon as I can work out WTH is going on with this uploading to my machine from my camera!
Also coming soon, my review of Hiltop Spinning and the lovely Bill & Sue Chitty who taught me to spin back in August. It has been a long time coming but as you can see from the HBOS farce I've been somewhat preoccupied!
Hope you are all keeping well
- Mully
