Happy 12th Night!

Aha it is the 6th January - the well known 12th night.

Welcome to 2007. Welcome to 12th night when the decorations should all have come down by (or they have to stay up for the entire year). Oddly, Jools Holland's Hootenany is on the TV - its a repeat from New Years Eve and I didn't watch it then either ;)

Well briefly, Father Christmas brought me flu on Christmas Eve. Apart from that I spent Christmas day with Mum at Mum's place. It was much like any other day except I'd taken mum to midnight Mass on Christmas Eve and toasted the day in with a baileys.

I've pretty much been sick since then and have barely left the house. Today I began working on a sock design. I was inspired by a number of things; first the Sockitines Swap on Knitting Help and the realisation that I have to knit two pairs of socks very soon. A neighbour popped in to see mum in the week, and brought some old 1940's knitting patterns with her. She brought three, one for mens socks, one for family socks and one for a gillet. I was flicking through the family socks one and came across a pattern for a girls sock. It had a pattern that was perfect for the Sockitines Swap, however I had no idea how I would incorporate it into a modern sock which would be knit on two circulars in an adult size. Tonight, I fiddled about with some acrylic "testing" yarn and tried various ways in which to use part of the pattern.

I failed to do what I wanted to do but what I did achieve was a quite surprising result, and something I think I can possibly use. Thankfully I made notes of what I did on each row and I think I may have created something!

Anyway, this was supposed to be a fast post to say "hey all I'm not dead, I'm still around and my new years resolution is to post more and to catch up on some seriously lacking responses to emails from friends who are from afar"

So with that said, I'm off back to the warmth of my bed!
