Still not really able to do much lifting and like with my muscle spasm filled back, I was content to at least do something positive this weekend and get stash organising.
I have a few bits of leftover sock yarn and other yarns stuffed into jiffy bags and tissue paper and then in plastic bags and then into a set of wooden boxes but this is rather full. It was time to ditch the excess jiffy bags and plastic bags and tissue paper, and to organise!
I pulled everything out and started laying it out on the floor in piles. Ripped up the jiffy bags and screwed up the more straggly raggy bits of tissue paper and began to put things into some kind of semi order.
In the process of doing this I came across a bunch of yarn an old lady who lives close by and is a friend of my mothers gave me. She can't really knit any more so she gave me the yarn. I've not done anything with it. Along with the yarn she gave me a drop spindle and some rollags.
The yarn is in pretty colours but I really don't know what I'm going to do with it. I do have some vintage patterns maybe I could use it to make some vintage accessories? Check out the Patons Piccadilly "With the Mohair Look!" Such cute vintageness!

I found a plethora of sock yarn in my stash. Now either I make a ton of socks (which I could do as I'm especially enjoying doing 2 socks on 2 circs - yay for having a PAIR of socks at the end - I may change my mind on this when I get to the heel turns and gusset pickups but for now it's fun!!) or find something else to do with it. Gloves maybe. I've yet to attempt gloves, this could be an interesting challenge!
I found sweater yarn, and a WIP for Tomato sweater but I've lost the plot as to where I am on that. I was making it in the biggest size too - so I think a ripping back is necessary for that then a re-start. I have a nice purple/pink contrast for the colour work on that.
I was looking at my projects on Ravelry the other day and thinking "where on earth did I put that Chevron and Halcyon scarf project bag?" and lo! I found it. Halcyon was not making me feel joyful at all, however the Chevron I was LOVING.
I'd been to the Socktopus launch at the back end of last year and came away with some Chameleon Colorworks Evolution. This yarn is sooooo soft and so nice to work with. Anyway while stash organising I found it and a spare ball of the Peacock colourway. Nowhere could I find the skein of Purple Rain - the other colour. Disaster! I rushed onto the Socktopus site and thankfully managed to get the last skein in this colour! She had no Peacock colourway so I was VERY lucky! Phew.
I fondled the scarf lovingly and thought "I meant to take photos of this ages ago to put on ravelry." So I started taking pics and thinking "Why did I leave this hidden away for so long?" I started it in January of this year then lost my knitting mojo while I concentrated on shedding some lard.
Yesterday I took a day off. Back in Feburary my colleagues bought me a birthday gift of a voucher for a place called Relax. This is a tranquil massage parlour in central London. I could have had two half hour massages or I could have one full hour massage. Or any other treatment they offer there too. I chose to have a one hour deep tissue massage. I was hoping this would help with my back problems.
I arrived at Relax to be met by a friendly Australian girl, proffering water and taking me upstairs to the "Haven" where I had to fill in a form to make sure there were no medical issues with me having the massage.
Next I was taken into a relaxing tranquil room, full of purple decor and lovely mild floral scents. Then a very nice Asian lady talked me through the process and left me to get undressed and up on the table.
An hour later (and I wish I had extended it to be a 2 hour massage) I was lying there feeling like jelly. She got to work right on my back pushing and easing the knots out of the muscles in my back. It was an experience not to miss. I really really really regret not taking the extention for another hour. I think she could have done wonders for me with another hour.
Today I feel looser, but my back still hurts - I think basically she unknotted it and it was so used to being tense while holding everything together that it is now so relaxed the bones ache because they aren't being pulled every which way by spasms in the muscles.
Anyway, on the way to the massage I brought along Chevron for a little light tube knitting. I pulled out the knitting from Wimbledon to Earls Court and not a soul even blinked in my direction - this is good, I was comfortable and happy knitting away.
I switched to the Piccadilly line and pulled out the needles. Immediately a couple sitting opposite me started whispering to eachother and giggling. I carried on. Two young (ish) girls got on the train then, one had to sit next to me and was complaining to her friend that she always had to sit next to the freak on the train. Yeah, thats right. I was the "freak" on the train. I didn't care though, I had soft as butter evolution in my hands and was going to be pummelled into the most relaxed state I'd been in for a long time.
Anyway, I managed to get a few rows done on the way there, and again on the way back. So here it is, in progress and no longer hibernating, I give you Chevron in progress:
